Home organization in Phoenix

From historic Central corridor homes to Desert Ridge new builds — two very different organizing problems.

Phoenix, AZ

Phoenix is not one market

Organizing Phoenix well means treating it as several cities rather than one.

In Arcadia, the Biltmore area and North Central, the homes are older and often beautiful — and they were built before anyone assumed a household would own this much. Closets are shallow. Kitchens have no pantry. Storage was an afterthought because there was less to store. Organizing these houses is genuinely a design problem: finding capacity in the architecture without damaging what makes the house worth living in.

North Phoenix, Desert Ridge and Ahwatukee are the opposite — newer, larger, and generous with square footage. Here the issue is rarely space. It is that nothing has been assigned a home, so five different rooms hold a bit of everything.

We work across both. Phoenix is roughly forty minutes from our base in Surprise, so we schedule Phoenix projects in full-day or multi-day blocks rather than short visits, which tends to suit larger jobs anyway.
